Ben was born on February 3, 1984, in Holdrege, Nebraska, the son of Paul W. and Alice (Hoffman) Erickson. Growing up, Ben was active in Boy Scouts and earned his Eagle Scout. He attended Holdrege Public Schools. In school, he was active in sports including basketball and football. Over his lifetime he was an avid fisherman of area lakes, Yellowstone, Table Rock Lake, and Muskie fishing at Lake of the Woods. After graduating from Holdrege High School in 2002, he attended The University of Nebraska at Kearney, majoring in Construction Management. While attending college at Kearney he met his future wife Nichole O'Callaghan. Following Ben's graduation from Kearney, the couple moved to Scottsbluff, Nebraska where Ben worked for Baker and Associates. The couple later moved to Blair to be closer to family. On May 4, 2013, the couple were united in marriage at St. James Catholic Church in Omaha. Ben's career also included working for Hawkins and Cerris as a project manager in Omaha. Ben's passion was always fishing; he cherished trips with his family, traveling with Nichole to Maine and annual trips with his college friends. He was a lifelong Nebraska Cornhusker and San Francisco 49er fan. Ben found the most joy from attending his daughters' sporting events, primarily softball and basketball.
Ben is survived by his wife Nichole; daughters: Peyton and Brinley; parents Paul W. and Alice Erickson; brother Chris (Trisha); nephews: Brady, Oscar and Henry; mother-in-law Angela (Tom) Triplett and family; father-in-law Charlie (Ruth) O'Callaghan and family; brothers-in-law Ken (Callie) O'Callaghan and family, Wayne (Payge) O'Callaghan and family; aunts Suzanne Barnes and Linda Hurt; his beloved dog, Millie, along with extended family and friends.
